reader response draft 1

Thesis statement

Through the holistic approach of the Four National Taps, Singapore was able to overcome its lack of natural resources to meet the needs of a growing nation. However, installing the infrastructure to supply water is only half of the equation. Hence, in order to achieve a desirable level of water consumption, everyone should also play their part in reducing water wastage.

Due to Singapore's challenging history with fresh water, Singapore has placed a heavy emphasis on its conservation. Even though most local water conservation work is originated by the PUB which helps to control water supply through the innovation of new technology. However, there is only so much they can achieve without the nation’s population acting wisely to conserve this limited resource. According to the Straits times article (2018), the price of water supply from Malaysia is expected to increase. Hence, it is our responsibility to focus on our own water generation and conservation efforts. PUB's goal is to reduce the average Singaporean water usage by 2030 and to achieve that, we do this by reducing the amount of water used in daily life. Overall, water security should never be taken for granted in order to meet growing water needs.

In addition, An increase in the intensity of weather variability can pose significant problems to water resources, while the government continues to invest in infrastructure ahead of demand and make Singapore’s water supply resilient against weather vagaries, the community also has a role to play in managing demand. By using water wisely and making every drop count, all of us can contribute to the sustainability of our water resource.

Therefore,we all can cultivate a good habit of saving water by using our limited water supply wisely and caring for it properly. Every drop counts and every contribution matters no matter how big or small. Therefore,we all should work together to lower our water consumption. PUB has implemented a wide range of water conservation plans to build a strong-water saving community. In one of the categories, “activities’’ from the Public Utilities Board (PUB), it gives Singaporeans an opportunity to participate in various thrilling watersports, for instance, kayaking and canoeing because they feel that people who are close to water will learn to appreciate it more and be guardians of it. Such activities will not only further educate others about the importance of conservation of water but also to be more proactive in saving water
